Bridge House Independent School

Art and Design

In Art and Design children will have the opportunity to explore a range of experiences that will inspire their own creativity and stimulate curiosity.

Children will explore different cultures, local and internationally renowned artists and mediums that have impacted and shaped society.

Children begin by developing their gross motor skills creating large pieces of art inspired by the enquiry question progressing to using fine motor skills when developing project-based course work for their GCSE’s.

Throughout their learning journey, children will explore textures, shapes, colours, sculpture and different mediums such as paints, charcoal, pencils, oil pastels and spray paint.

Bridge House actively visit local art projects and galleries, endeavouring to broaden students’ experiences of a wider cultural environment.

Our children revisit and reflect on how historical works of art have shaped the local, national, and international communities.

The children will gain a greater awareness of the impact of art and design on our society and how it can be used to express ourselves in daily life.
